Queen City Stars is committed to lacrosse development, passionate about success and driven by team achievement. It is our mission to promote the sport of lacrosse among girls in the Charlotte community by providing the best instructional leadership available to develop, field and showcase Charlotte’s premier talent.

Queen City Stars was founded in 2005 by Lauren Gallagher Wrey and Catherine Mellon LeBlanc as a means to provide Charlotte players the opportunity to travel to national tournaments, consequently challenged and educated on a higher playing field, and subsequently improve individually. In 2005 Queen City Stars traveled with one mixed elite squad. Since that time we have grown to encompass 11 coaches, all former and current college varsity players, and 140+ players.

In 2009 Queen City expanded to include a developmental, or academy, level in response to the sincere growth, interest and culture of Charlotte girls wishing to learn the sport of lacrosse, be challenged as an athlete and develop to the next level. As a result of the subsequent talent and commitment levels at the academy level the Queen City Stars elite program has grown to now encompass four year-round elite squads, three at the high school level and one at the middle school level.

In addition to introducing year-round facilities in the fall of 2010 to High School, Queen City Stars also excitedly announced the addition of the Middle School age group. The dedication of this Middle School group led Queen City to host a spring team as well who went undefeated in their inaugural regular season!

Lacrosse is the fastest growing youth sport in America, doubling in participation since 2001 and growing 10% in 2010 alone. In fact, over the past five years participation in girls lacrosse alone has expanded at 48%, an astounding increase. With that, Queen City Stars continues to evolve and in the fall of 2011 will introduce player financial assistance opportunities as well as agility and speed training.
